Welcoming high school students in all grades; the earlier the better!
Conversations are different with Freshmen and Sophomores, but they're important. Topics in these earlier high school years include strengths and assessments, extracurricular choices, summer enrichment, strategic course selection, personal goal setting, and education regarding what matters later on in college admissions. These conversations help inform the path that a student will take leading toward their college search, and help students get into the college-going mindset.
Then, with Juniors and Seniors, the focus shifts to further education about the process, building their college list, striving to present the best possible college application, further decisions regarding course selection and activities, forming a standardized testing plan, and managing tasks and timelines. We may also also discuss gap year programs, summer plans, or any other options that would match a particular student's objectives. This is when we work on research, organization, and empowering the student to move forward with knowledge and confidence. While Beth is there to coach the student through the process, the goal is to encourage independence and "owning" one's process and desisions.

"In one phone conversation, Beth was able to take my son's criteria and come up with two other
schools that we had not even considered. She was able to provide us with statistics and facts
about all of the schools that are not available through the sources we used.... We are now in
the process of sending in our deposit to the 'perfect' school. That school just happened to be
the top choice on College and Company's list for my child!” - SSHS Parent
